About St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues are a professional ice hockey team based in St. Louis, Missouri. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team is named after the famous W. C. Handy song St. Louis Blues, and plays in the 19,150-seat Scottrade Center in downtown St. Louis. The franchise was founded in 1967 as one of the expansion teams during the league's original expansion from six to twelve teams.

David Anthony Backes (born May 1, 1984) is an American professional ice hockey right winger and captain of the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL).After two seasons of junior with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League, Backes was selected 62nd overall by the Blues in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Following his draft, he joined the Minnesota State Mavericks of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, spending three seasons in the college hockey ranks. Foregoing his senior year with the Mavericks, he turned professional with the Blues, joining their American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. Midway through the 2006–07 season, Backes was called up to the NHL and secured a roster spot with the Blues. Following his fifth season with St. Louis, he was chosen as team captain.
